You can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

I didn't forget about you

I just haven't really had anything to blog about the last few days. But if you want here is a recap of the week.

Monday- I don't remember

Tuesday - I worked and I went to visit my dad and Joe's grandmother (they are in the same rehab facility). Julia ate dinner with my dad. They were so cute sitting at his little table each with their own chicken pot pies. All the nurses already know Julia from visiting her great grand mother so when they heard her grampie was going to be staying with them they have taken special care. The staff are so nice. If you happen to be there during a meal they offer you food also so you can have a meal with your loved one. My dad is doing amazing. A week and a half after having his hip replaced he is walking without a cane! He is in NO pain at all. He looks so much younger too! I think it's from not being in pain anymore.

Wednesday - Julia had a soccer game. Our next door neighbor Cindy came to cheer her on. Julia was more concerned about the mud puddles and touching them rather than chasing the ball. After the game we went over my mother in laws for dinner (this has become a wed night tradition after soccer).

Thursday - Joe went to poker so I had some "me" time and I caught up on all my DVRed shows.

Friday - Today I went out to lunch with an old friend then went to hang with my dad. We played Monopoly and Yatzee (I kicked his butt BTW). Now I'm just veggin, facebooking, and blogging. Joe got last minute tickets to the Yankees game tonight so he's down in NY.

That's all I have to report. I'll post some pics this weekend.

Awesome Weekend!

Friday we had our bi-weekly trip to Boston but the way home was extra special because we had 2 stow aways. Tara and Michael had to come home for a wedding so they rode with us. It was so nice to catch up. We had a full 2 hours of talking. Naturally the Mullan clan was gathering at the Irish Club so that's where we dropped them off.

Saturday Kathleen and Stephen got married. Tons of pictures below. Stephen I've met only over the last few years but Kathleen I've known since she was Julia's age. We went to the same Irish Step Dancing school way back in the day. Go Duffy Academy of Irish Music and Dance! The wedding was so much fun. Stephen was born and raised in Ireland so most of his family came over for the celebration. No exaggeration Joe and maybe 2 others were the only ones with no Irish heritage. It was so nice to see all my old friends and dance. Yes I danced! I haven't had that much fun in sooo long. Literally it was like being at the Irish Fest with all of them but funner! (yes I know that's not a word) At one point the DJ had to change up the music because so many people were dancing and no one was eating the meal. He actually made an announcement that is was requested that everyone sit down and eat. So many good Irish songs, so little time.

Can we just get one nice picture? Ever?

Erin and I. Erin is Julia's Irish Step Dancing teacher starting on Oct 13. It has been a joy knowing Erin from when she was a small child and to see her blossom into an even more wonderful dancer and into the woman she has become. Now to have her teach Julia. It's a full circle moment. I can not wait to see what this school becomes and where it goes. Erin and I have the same views that the traditions and culture of Irish dance are getting lost. It seems like a more commercialized version of the dance is being encouraged. But I'm getting distracted. I need to label more pictures.

Chris and Joe. We always joke that this is Joe's boyfriend because from literally the moment they met way back when at a wedding, they ignore the rest of the world when they are together.

Now anyone who knows the Mulcahy's they know love to dance. Mr. and Mrs. Mulcahy used to dance from the minute the Irish Fest opened on Friday until an hour after it closed on Sunday. Breaking only for mass. They moved around the floor beautifully as if they were the only 2 people there. 8 years ago Mrs. Mulcahy passed away. I'll never forget the memories of watching them dance and dance. Which brought me to record this video. As I was watching Kathleen and her dad dance I swear I could have been watching her mother instead of her. It was a bittersweet moment that I would like to share.

Here are some video of the Duffy Dancers dancing at the wedding. Keep in mind this is very impromptu and no practice time.

My sister and brother in law were so kind in taking Julia over night Saturday night. Kara brought Julia home around 12pm and we all went to visit my dad in rehab. (who BTW is doing great and making great progress). Joe's grandmother is right down the hall from my dad so we wheeled her down and had a little impromptu party. I think my dad is a little excited to have someone to watch sports with to. After our visit we headed up to the mall because Julia wanted to spend some of her birthday money. She went to build a bear and made a pink bear and named her Claire.

So that's our weekend. Have a great night!

Kids are funny

Mom: Julia can we discuss your recent love of rocks and if we really need to be collecting them?

Julia: But I love my rocks. (pout) They all have names.

Mom: I understand that but are really loud when they get sucked up in the vacuum. Not to mention they might break the vacuum. Maybe we can limit the rocks and find a place to keep them.

Julia: Oh I know mama! I can put them with my seed collection.

Mom: Your seed collection?

Julia: Yes...seeds from my apples and seeds from my watermelons.

(pause for mom to think...watermelons haven't been in season for a month now...eeeewww)

Julia: I also have a booger collection. It's in my belly! (thanks Jules-TMI!)

This was the conversation on the way home from soccer last night. I'll leave you with her team picture that Kasey took. Have a nice weekend!

It's the most wonderful time...of the year

I love this time of year. The leaves changing color, the crisp air, apples and cider. All the fairs and carnivals. Warm sweaters, fried dough, salted pumpkin seeds. The list goes on and on. Yesterday the three of us met up with Kara, Rob, and Reillyn for Reillyn's first pumpkin pick. Here are some pictures from the day. Some might be duplicates because I was playing with some new photo software I just got. Enjoy!

Reillyn was so excited about the pumpkins. See the excitement behind those closed eyelids? I love the binkie hanging out of his mouth.

A little distracted

There we go! My little cutie patootie! (BTW this was his first time touching a pumpkin)

I know how to color pumpkins orange!

Cousins

Not sure if you can see in this picture but the cheese says "1 year old". We thought it was cute that the cheese was older than Reillyn. But now that I think about it any consumable, that you digest, that is older than a year, is kind of nasty don't you think?

Are these the cutest kids ever or what?

Yup, me playing again. Now I can color pumpkins, and clothes.

My girl. To me she looks so old in this picture.

After we played on the grass while we enjoyed hot apple fritters, cold cider, and lemonade.

Ha ha ha silly Uncle Rob!

So that was our day. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful brother and sister, and such amazing daughter and nephew. And my husband is great too!

Uncle Pete's camera work

Took these 2 pics from Uncle Pete's blog. These were taken at the game yesterday

Jules. Not sure what she is doing but she looks good doing it!
