You can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

Concert

Today Julia's school did a Black History Month concert. My camera was being temper mental and the red eye reduction was not working for some reason. I got some cute pictures and video of Julia, Molly, and Peter.

This is Julia and her friend Savannah

Peter

Reillyn at his first concert. Julia was excited to see him and she showed him off to everyone

Julia took this picture of herself and kept looking at it and laughing. She said "it is the most hysterical picture I have ever seen....for real mama!"

Tonight I went to the wake for my friends Jenn's mother. Because Joe is in training this week I was strapped for a sitter. Emma was missing Julia so I dropped Julia off at Chris and Faith's for some quality play time. I always forget how much fun Julia and Emma have together.

Julia took this picture of Emma and I. I love that hair! Check out those curls!

Emma and Julia

So that was our day. I feel like I did so much because I am exhausted but this is all I have to show for it. I am hoping that there isn't a snow day because I would like to organize Julia's room. And I have dinner plans at Olive Garden...mmmmm.....

9 years and counting!

Happy Anniversary to us!

9 years ago today I married my best friend

9 years ago today my half became a whole

9 years ago today I wore the most beautiful dress I have ever owned

9 years ago today I looked down from the alter to see all the people we love smiling back at us

9 years ago today the garlic mashed potatoes became something to laugh about

9 years ago today my family doubled in size

As I enter into that last single digit year of my marriage I think back to all the memories, the good times, the obstacles. I would do it all again, but only with the same man accompanying me. He is the man that will be by my side, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health. Death will only part our bodies, not our love.

Happy Anniversary Baby! Thanks for "crashing into me"!

Right at this moment, 9 years ago, I was kissing my fiancee good night for the last time. The next time I saw him he would be my husband. My intent was to go home after the rehearsal dinner and get a good night sleep because I had to be at the hair salon at 6a.m. But since Joe was sleeping at his parents that night and my sister was sleeping at my condo...we had a girls night. We stayed up talking and packing for Aruba. Our heads hit the pillow around 2:30 a.m. I was running on pure adrenaline the next day to say the least!

Now back to present day...

Not much went on today. I've been thinking a lot about my friend Jenn and her family today. Her mother lost her 2 month battle with cancer yesterday. A few days before Christmas she got the diagnosis out of the blue and add on to that it was stage 4. (link to CaringBridge ---> tommysgirl)You go through these stages in life it seems. All your friends get married around the same time, have babies around the same time. You get introduced to funerals because friends grandparents start dying, now it looks like its moving on to parents and that's pretty scary to me. You just need to make the most of the time you have regardless.

A girls day out and mourning Pizza Hut :-(

Today was fun. I got to sleep in and when I woke up Julia was already home from her sleep over at Grammies. Asiago cheese bagel from Panera for breakfast...mmm. Then Kara and Reillyn came over and we all went to lunch. After lunch we stopped in for a visit with Grand Mema. When we were about to leave we ran into Auntie Jo, Uncle Dickie, and Melissa. They were visiting Gram so we all hung out in the main room. They were playing music and Uncle Dickie was trying to get Julia to use one of the dining tables as a stage. She passed on that one. After our visit we went to the mall and went in all the girlie stores. Tried on makeup in Sephora, looked at the jewelry in Claire's, stopped in at Godiva for some chocolate, even introduced Julia to Louis Vuitton. She liked the luggage! We just got home and now it's time to order pizza for dinner, bath, and bedtime for the little one.

UPDATE: Ok (breathe......just breathe.....) We just tried to order dinner from Pizza Hut and we just learned that the Glastonbury location has closed! Yes shut the doors! I don't understand. I don't get it. Now we have to drive all the way to East Hartford to get their pizza. The positive thing is that the East Hartford location has just been redone and it's new and clean and dine in. Joe and I are already making plans to go out there next week for dinner.

No Facebook is backfiring!

As soon as I post that I am getting a kick out of my friends text messages regarding my recent sabbatical I get a text from one of my oldest friends. Upset I un-friended her. Thinking she did something wrong. To my friend...you know who you are...I love you. We're all good!

Date night and no Facebook

Tonight my husband surprised me with date night! Who says you can't be spontaneous once you have children? Joe took me to see the movie Valentine's Day. It was a really cute movie. Somewhat predictable but cute just the same. Taylor Swift playing the ditsy high school student was hysterical. I hope she does another movie soon. I also got my Twilight fix even though I'm not team Jacob. My favorite part of all was after the credits when they were showing the outtakes. Julia Roberts was riding in a limo. The driver points out that they are passing Rodeo Dr. and asks her if she has ever shopped there. She replies "yes, but that was a big mistake...big mistake..." (In case you didn't catch that she was referencing her shopping experience in Pretty Woman) ha ha ha it still is cracking me up as I'm writing this.

After the movie we went to Joey Garlics for dessert. Joe decided for dessert he was gonna get a cheeseburger. The only other person on the planet that I know that thinks a cheeseburger could count as dessert is my cousin Meghan. She loves a good cheeseburger. Well then again who doesn't? Me I went with the chocolate lava cake.....mmmm

I am on day 4 of no Facebook and I have to say I don't miss it as much as I thought it would. I am entertained by the texts from my friends. Most telling me I need to come back and I am missed. A few saying I won't last (those will be deleted from my friends list for their lack of confidence). My favorite was "so...do you have the shakes yet?" So 4 down, 36 to go!

As most of you know Joe and I are in the process of renovating a house that we were hoping to purchase. We have hit a bit of a road block so please say a little prayer that God will guide us in the direction we need to go.

Liberated

Today marks the first day of lent and I, like many Catholics, made the decision to give something up. Facebook. I gave up Facebook. I thought by now I would be in panic mode. I feel strangely liberated. I am definitely a Facebook addict. Updating my status several times a day. Being sick it was my window into the world on days I could not get out of bed. I got obsessed with finding old friends and getting in touch with people that I had lost touch with. But the more people I let in the more dramatic things were getting. Some people did not use filters. Making inappropriate comments or opinions. Getting mad at me for stating my opinion on my page. I'm sorry but like my blog, if you don't like what I have to say then don't read it.

So as of today I have de-stressed, if you will, a portion of my life that was being taken over. I will spend more time, with my husband, daughter, reading, and blogging. Some on Lent...Bring it On!!
