Yes she is wearing a princess dress, a cowgirl hat, and a tiara over it singing to High School Musical's Breaking Free. Sorry it's so blurry but I took the video on an old cell phone.
You can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

only 4 going on 16
Tonight we are all dressed up and only going to Barnes and Noble. This is not to unusual in the Laurito household because if Julia had her way, every day would be princess day.
The only time she is not dressed up as a princess is when she has to wear her school uniform.
Must be nice to live in such a magical world...

You can whistle and steam can whistle, so why do you sing in the shower?
Well there are lots of theories for this one...and there are several things I need to point out.
#1. Not everyone can whistle. I have fallen victim to that handicap myself. At games, concerts, and even when a hottie passes me on the street I can't show my appreciation. I have to just sit there and hope that I send out a "vibe" that says "I love this! I'm having the time of my life!".
#2. Now I'm not an expert in science or anything but one would have to assume that to create the whistle of a tea kettle, using steam, you would have to either ingest boiling hot water or have the shower so hot that it would boil the water you have inside your body. Both options are very painful.
#3. Let's just say the water temperature inside your body is hot enough to let out a whistle. Would the noise come from your mouth? Or would it come from your sweat glands. Ha ha ha how funny would it be if you could just lift up your arm and whistle?
I have to say, in conclusion, that I am very happy we are able to sing in the shower and not whistle. Being that I can't do either I don't see how it makes a difference. But when I am drunk doing karaoke or singing in the shower I can hit those Mariah Carey notes right on key.

question of the day
I noticed when I was setting up my new blog account that they have these silly little questions that you can ask yourself. (so when you log on to my blog, and you see a random question, you'll know why it's there)
Today's question you ask????
What kind of tape is best for creating a sculpture?
I fell that being the closet redneck that I am, I am more than qualified to answer this question. (and those who know me and my closet full of banana republic, brooks brothers, coach, kate spade and what have you, know how hard it was to admit that, but for the sake of the question I need to let you know my expertise in the field of adhesives)
So back to the question.
I want to start by giving credit where credit is due. I would not be so knowledgeable on this subject if it weren't for a certain friend of mine (you know who you are) This friend tried his hardest over the last 13 years to break me of my snobby ways and have me fully cross over to redneckdum. But he failed and I did witness him trading in his old wardrobe for a new one at the GAP a few months ago. But that's another story for another day. Back to the tape...
I have witnessed 1 type of tape and 1 type only of being capable of doing many things. This tape has been seen around windows (never will you catch this in my house) to keep little critters out. This tape has been known to hang posters in a dorm or bedroom, fix books, can be used in grooming (yeah gross but I read it on the Internet and everything you read there is true), putting up Christmas lights, hold the batteries in the remote when you have lost the cheap plastic cover, and the list goes on. But the one reason I hold this tape true to my heart is it can buy you some extra time with a car dying of cancer (rust). I have seen it with my own eyes.
So what other tape can be best for a sculpture you ask???
Duct tape! You can get it in 25 different colors at least! You can imagine the great and colorful piece of artwork you would get. Not to mention sturdy, bug and weather resistant...and the list goes on..
This post is dedicated to the Wing (may he rest in peace), his owner and all the fond memories we shared back in the day!

Dumb and Dumber...
Ok so I'm and idiot. This is actually the second blog site I have created because I can't for the life of me figure out how to add posts to the first one. So I get a fresh start...a new beginning...a whole new world at my finger tips!
Ok who am I kidding I only had 2 posts on the last one. But I do plan on keeping this up. I have saved and documented how to do these posts. I am all fired up.
So to that bitchy blogger that left an anonymous nasty comment on my last blog...BRING IT ON! I am full of opinions to share with all.

Another Day Off ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Now come on...I want the kid to get an education and I don't think she will have a full week of school until February. OK maybe I'm exaggerating a little. But in December we had days off because of parent teacher conferences. Then came Christmas break which lasted what like 12 days? Now she has today off and another Monday in two weeks! What's next? School all year round and 4 day school weeks?

Holiday Season 2007

So here we are finally at the end of the holiday season! Don't get me wrong we love a good party but 7 family gatherings (including Kwanzaa) in 1 week is tiring for anyone. Yes you read that right the Irish/Italians celebrate Kwanzaa. Suffice to say the Lauritos are welcoming our first weekend at home with no plans. What a way to start the new year.
Here is Julia at the start of the festivities at midnight mass Christmas Eve. We went to the church we got married in because they do the whole shebang when it comes to the music. Choir, trumpets, organ. The music is beautiful and with Julia singing every Christmas carol ever composed this holiday season(at the top of her lungs mind you), I thought she would enjoy it. She was in awe of the decorations and the lights and told me when she walked in that it looked like a beautiful wedding castle. Experiencing the holidays through her eyes has been a gift.
I remember the holidays being so magical when I was younger. The weeks leading up to Christmas were filled with anticipation. Not just because of Santa. People were a littler cheerier. Christmas carols could be heard everywhere you went. Trees and lights around every corner. Walking outside bundled up in your hat and mittens the smell of wood burning from a nearby chimney.
I would wait up as late as I could to hopefully see Santa. I would wake up in the middle of the night, hear some noise and swear the reindeer were on the roof. I wouldn't get out of bed though because mom and dad said if Santa ever spotted me he wouldn't leave my presents. Then there was that feeling. That when you first come downstairs Christmas morning...seeing the tree lit up with all the gifts around it. For a moment it's so peaceful, before all the chaos, before all the paper flying around and the chattering and excited squeals. Somewhere in my adulthood that feeling got lost. The only thing that has come close in the last few years (besides the obvious...Wedding day, birth of the first child) is the feeling you get when you walk into Yankee stadium. You walk around juggling food, tickets and programs. Then you walk through that tunnel and suddenly the whole field opens up. It takes your breath away. Anyway that feeling was lost until this holiday season. So thank you my sweet Julia for bringing the magic back. We love you!-Mom and Dad
