You can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle these three things:
a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

Lil' Smarty Pants!

Ok remember my last blog when I said I'll miss the way Julia says things? Well last night she was on the computer. I thought she was just playing her Disney games but when I walked in the room I was in for a treat. (I know...I know...bad habit to get into not knowing what the kid is doing on the computer) So Julia had Microsoft Word open and had typed some words on the screen. My little 4 year old constructed and typed a sentence all by herself. I had to share this because I am so proud and the spelling and grammer are just too cute.

In cidys howz ter is to dogz namd oli and tj.

Translation: In Cindy's (our neighbor) house there is two dogs named Oli and T.J.

I could just eat her up!

Missing my baby

Everyday I am amazed at how much fun Julia is. I never imagined that motherhood would be this joyful and fulfilling. My heart melts with every new perspective she gives me on life. Today I realized just how much my baby has grown up. I think it was when she called me mom and not mommy or mama. As most of you know, Julia had a hard time with her speech at first. At times I was the only one that could translate. Now I have come to miss some of the ways she would say some things. Some of the Julia-isms I no longer hear...

computer said kemp-youter
Dunkin Donuts said Dumpkin Donuts
chocolate milk said choca nilk
CVS said seeve-B-S
uniform said unicorn

As much as I want to hold on to her the way she is I can't wait for what's to come!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

This was a relaxing weekend of a lot of nothing. Today Julia went to a neighbor's house while Joe and I went to play a round of miniature golf. After Joe beat me with a slight lead he hit the batting cages. Tomorrow is opening day for the Westside Market Softball team and he wants to be ready. (6:30 at Elm Ridge, field by the pool if you want to be part of the cheering section)Not only is tomorrow opening day but it's also Joe's birthday. Because he has a game and I have to work late we had dinner at his parents house for his birthday. Earlier today Julia helped me make the cake. Yes I know what you all are thinking. I did bake the cake.
How cute is this future Martha Stewart? This next picture is Julia getting ready to sing happy birthday to her daddy. She was so cute singing at the top of her lungs with the biggest smile on her face.
The excitement was short lived because right after this next picture was taken, Julia's hair caught on fire. Singed black at the end. She was more freaked out that Papa slapped her face. He was trying to put the fire out.

So we put ice on her little red cheek, and opened the windows to get rid of the horrible smell.

Here you can see she got over it.

That was our excitement for the night. Tomorrow I probably won't write much because I'm working late like I said and Joe has a game. So see you Tuesday...

Night out with Mema and Papa

Tonight, as soon as I got out of work, Julia and I headed down to Westbrook to visit my in laws. They are staying down there this week to relax and get away. Even though it was freezing Julia wanted to look for rocks and shells on the beach. (notice the winter coats?) Papa actually went in the ocean up to his knees today! After dinner at Dairy Queen we went back to the resort and Papa took Julia swimming. In the indoor pool of course. My little girl was pooped swimming for an hour non stop.

At one point I asked Julia to turn around (her back was facing me) so I could take a picture of her in the pool. Here is a video of what she did. She thought she was hysterical. But she did do exactly what I said, just not how I pictured it.

So needless to say I didn't get any more good pictures 0f her in the pool.

To my cousin Eileen...

Why a picture of a cat you ask? This is Casey. Casey found a home with Eileen during a very trying time in Eileen's life. Casey has now passed. I'm not really an animal person but I know Eileen loves Casey, and I love Eileen so I don't like to see her hurt. To Eileen...you have proven to be a strong person in the past and I know you will get through this. You have a HUGE family that loves you and hopes you feel better soon.
